How to measure a standard window:
Measuring a standard window
If you have an existing curtain pole or rail which you are replacing, measuring the length of this should give you the correct lengfth for your new pole.
For new windows, just follow these 3 easy steps:
Measure the inside of your window from wall to wall (recess width)
Allow at least 15cm / 6in each side of the window (B + B)
Add all 3 measurements together to get the length of the pole required:
Recess Width + B + B = Pole Length
All pole measurements throughout the site are for the pole length only and exclude the size of the finials.
If you are unsure which pole length to choose always choose the longer size, as the poles can easily be cut down to fit.
Most longer poles will be in two pieces and are joined in the centre by a centre bracket. If you need to cut these poles down to your exact requires size, remember to cut half the amount from each end so that the centre bracket will still cover the join in the middle.
